Being a former Boy Scout, i know one way to stop chaf is to cover the exposed skin with duct tape. I know it seems odd, but it always worked to prevent blisters on my heel. Think of it as a sacrificial skin.

It usually doesn't hurt too bad coming off, since your body moisture sort of loosens it after a few hours.

Try it, you never know.
