Sorry for the confusion - I just meant the I don't pre-coat my wood. You don't want to lift the glass up and lay it on wood that's wet with epoxy. I read a few (one) person has done that but that would be a monsterous job and unnecessary. It's hard to get it nice and flat and even as you do when it's dry.
If the epoxy is thin from warming, you won't have any problem saturating it out and the wood beneath it. I think some people have had problems with dry spots using a roller on bare wood. The roller won't put as much epoxy on the surface like pushing it around with a squeegee.
Pre-coating is good too and most people now do that. I just have found that I don't need to. I was always nervous about blush and getting a good bond. Just don't be afraid to use too much epoxy in the beginning and then once it starts to thicken up a bit and you have given it time to soak well, squeege it. You want to gently squeegee excess epoxy out from under the cloth. You want the cloth to be in contact with the wood and not floating up on epoxy. You want it to be a skin on the shape you painstakenly have sanded fair. If it's floating here and there, you will sand into it when it hardens up. Plus a lot of epoxy trapped under the glass doean't do you much good other than add weight.
