: It sounds like you're getting serious about the World Masters Games based on
: your paddling machine. I borrowed a homebuilt one from a friend and used it
: for several years. It had a flywheel and a bicycle ratcheted rear cluster for
: the take-up. It used an old broom handle loom. I learned to hate it over
: time. ha!
I am sure I'll learn to hate the machine, too! I suppose if I put a picture of Paul, Ken and you on the wall in front of me while I'm paddling I might be able to keep my perspective and paddle harder with more weight than those empty cans of paint...er...full cans of paint. I hate it when the truth leaks out.
I'd love to rig up a fly wheel but that would go against the idea of being a total cheapo. I did think that a series of large pulleys could generate the needed resistance. I'll work on further developments during the winter. So far it works well enough - at least I feel like I'm paddling again. Heck, perhaps it's worth while to connect the machine to an electrical generator, maybe I can save electrical $$$'s.
LMAO! Paul, I was just thinking: in light of the wife's comments about my so called "gerbil cheeks", a misnomer if I ever heard one (by the way), this machine is somehow fitting, especially if it's rigged to generate power.
