Looks like that front left claw was moving while the picture was taken. It certainly is more blurred than the other ones. I'm guessing it was alive at the time of the picture.
Umm. Sounds like you'ld rather just open the door first instead of looking through the peephole? Why would you want to do that?
Face it. As a kayaker you are expected to know what to do if confronted with an alligator, crocodile, polar bear, or great white shark--all known kayaking hazards. My solution is to live in the midwestern US where these things are in the zoos, and not on the water.
