I was quoted at $350 for a new one; ~$200 for a repair job; and $15 for a brush kit. I'm what you could describe as a cheap kinda guy at times - I cheaped out here. I just spent 2 hours in -22 C with light snow installing the brush kit that turned out to be no more than a 20 minute job. Unfortunately, I didn't learn that it was so simple until after I had removed several bolts and screws and disconnected the power steering line. But hey, I didn't have a manual to work with either, I winged it. I do, however and for some reason, have this nut left in my pocket. Since no spare parts are allowed I guess I'll have to go putit back in the alternator tomorrow. It's just a seating nut for the electrical wire is all.

I'm just very happy that I was able to do the repair in such unexpectedly short order. Now I can get that kayak on the roof and deliver it to my mom's garage tomorrow. No wait, my mom isin Thailand right now (Bankok) and I accidently tossed the garage key in the trash last month.

Drat! I'll go get me some GUinness and wait for her to get home.
