i need some info from you guru's! you've been such help in the past, first place i thought of trying for my re-finishing needs.
bought an amazing 17 ft cedar strip canoe yesterday for 350, but she is a bit ruff. some sections have been completely re-striped and are not flush, so it is not my intent to make this thing look as if new, just get it water worthy again. there are parts of fiberglass that are showing strands, which obviously have not been properly epoxied. i do not want to sand off everything to bare, cause it will never look restored, mostly just want to get a nice protective finish on it, as it seems a bit fragile. light sand and thick coat of epoxy? then ployvarnish?, or can i get away with just a thick coat of varnish after the sand?. there is also one spot where the wood looks slightly green under the glass, rot perhaps?
thanks everyone.
