I came across some veneer sold at Lee Valley Tools. I'm not an expert in veneer but it seems like a good deal to me. For $50cdn you get a big pizza box full of veneer. I got all sorts of types of wood including oak, maple, beech, birch, stained wood, burl, etc. I guess there are many more types than this but I don't know what they are called. A typical piece is 14"x6". Some pieces are larger. The backs don't have paper. I guess these pieces will be great for small inlay/onlay designs for kayak decks.

Some of the pieces were wavy. I don't know if this matters or not, perhaps this is something that can be fixed (ironing?). If anyone knows about this, let me know.
