I started my first kayak in July and I hope to put some glass on over the labor day weekend.
I have four kids ages 19, 16, 13, 9 - boy/girl/boy/girl. They have recently said things like "when you said you were going to build a kayak, I had no idea you were really going to do it" and "I had no idea it would look so sexy (my 19 year old). I have been thinking about building 2 at once when mine is complete.
Looking at the pic of your daughter following you, I can just see me and the four kids cruising across the lake like a string of ducks.
