I'd get out the ROS with 60 grit paper to sand off the glass but not enough to get touch the wood. I'd then use 120-240 grit to sand very lightly into the wood. Once done, I'd use the finer paper to light rub off any grit lines that might have been scratched into the wood. Then, I'd use a glass patch that over lapped the existing glass by 2 inches, do the weave fill epoxy work and smooth off to finish. Hope this helps. That method has worked well for me on several repairs to my kayaks.
