Hi Ted, great job on the canoe!!

Here is a link to Polytarp sails to give you an idea of a cheap way to get you under sail while you wait for the higher end sails.

You can do a search on builders who have used these inexpensive tarps...5.5oz. tarps seam to work the best for longevity but even Tyvek house wrap can give you some good test runs. The sails are easy to make once you understand the basics. I have a set of homemade tarp sails that have lasted 3 years now on a day sailer and look good. Hope this helps.
