Thanks. The black strip is just electrical tape. It actually sticks really good and its very easy to replace.

The paint is Rustoleum from Home Depot. I think it cost about $8 for the can. One coat of paint used less than 1/4 of the can. I put on three coats of white primer and then one coat of paint. I would have put more paint on but I was impatient. It seems like it will hold up pretty good. There's already a few scratches from dragging the boat over some shells at the beach but they're no where near as bad as I was expecting and none go through to the fiberglass. I'm pretty rough on my kayaks so I'm planning on putting a new coat of paint on a few times a year.
