: If you do try this, never ever stand behind the blade, always off to one

: wear tight fitting leather gloves cause when they do get thrown from the
: saw you don't get monster splinters. (don't ask how I know this )

: I also use a thickness planer to insure the wood is consistant thickness, so
: I cut the strips a little thick, perhaps a 1/16" over.

I've also set up my router and used it to joint strips. Use about a 1/2" straight bit that is wider than the strips. Set the tool all the way up and use feather boards to hold the strip against the fence. You can smooth and thin up a rough strip in no time.
