Unless you're set up with a real high-end shop, the amount of ripping/dust for a stripper just forces you outside. Even then you need good breathing and eye protection. Besides, it's good to share this with the neighbors. I've ripped in the driveway in dead of winter and with an ocassional warm-up break it's fairly painless and way less hassel than trying to do all that ripping inside. Besides, I use long boards.
The sanding alone in building a stripper can really dust up your basement as well. When I sand, I sacrifice the heat and open the outside steel door and set up several exhaust fans blowing past me from behind. With a few basement windows open I get a nice air stream carrying everything outside. That includes a shop vac hooked to the ROS.
