Ounce for ounce poly glue can't compare to epoxy. For gluing up stems it will be fine. Plus you will sheth it in glass and epoxy. Most people use epoxy for gluing because they have it. Poly glue is very expensive in any real quantity. I've used it - mostly because I didn't feel like mixing up epoxy. The time to clean up drips and lumps in any glue is the next day especially with epoxy because it take weeks to harden. The follwing day, epoxy is like hard rubber. 6 months later its like stone.
By the way, I've use Elmers poly glue and I think it's the exact same as Gorilla for half the price. I've used both.
Try making a puddle with poly glue and do the same with epoxy and check them in a week. Then bend them, scratch them, break them. You see the superiority of epoxy.
