Thats what I did with my cedar strip canoe. It seems to work well, but I still have three gashes I need to patch this weekend, the Minnesota rivers I went down this summer are very low, and with a load, the rocks scraped much of the graphite off. There is still no substitute for doubgle layers of glass on the bottom. Looks great when first applied though. For average use, if you stay away from too many rocks, the graphite is the way to go.
