...enough silica to just start to thicken the mixture. I have never managed to have the grapite layer scraped off despite deliberately ramming my kayak over sharp rock to test it out (I got a scratch that didn't penetrate through the graphite layer into the wood). The more graphite you use, the softer the finish, the more silica you use, the harder the finish. More graphite does mean better lubrication from abrasive surfaces but it will create a softer epoxy layer. FYI!
