Robert,
That sounds like a miscommunication. Resourcinols are typically dark and will leave dark glue lines. Gorilla Glue and the other Poly glues cure almost transparently. They work nicely with light or dark woods -- color doesn't matter. Contrary to what's been said elsewhere, the parts don't have to be clamped all that tightly. They just have to be made immobile so that the glue forces out instead of spreading the joint. Like epoxies, poly glues need a tiny bit of space so that they can form a layer of plastic. Clamp too tightly and you'll make a somewhat weaker joint.
Resourcinols are two-part glues that have to be measured and mixed. If you're going to measure and mix, then use epoxy. But epoxies are overkill for gluing strips. Just use a glue you can squeeze out of a bottle.
: I spoke with a guy at a wood sales shop just today about Gorilla Glue. He
: says that it dries "black" and suggested that I use resorcinol
: instead. I'll be starting my stripper this winter so am doing some
: homework on glues to use. FYI!
