Well i wouldnt have a way to to test if the surface would be more or less "self-lubricated" using this Hexagonal Boron Nitride rather than normal graphite, other than building two sleds coated with the two and let them down a slope..... im afraid not enough scientific of a test, and im almost sure not that revealing either.
All the literature i found refers it as a normal substitute for graphite, they use it in bearings and they mix it with epoxy in a number of applications so someone bothered doing all the testing already somewhere in the world.... and thats enough for me, since my problem with the graphite has been the black bottom with no possibilities to paint it, ill just use this stuff for my next built (or two) in the same graphite proportions.
Since they use as mold release agent too maybe i could find some for cheap through friends of friends.
About the 40$ per pound, ive noticed that they sell it in various "grades" so maybe there is some a little cheaper, will keep looking, thats one of the last things going onto the hull anyways...
