I have bought heavy duty roof bars for my van and find the run of the mill roof bar protectors like the surfers use are too small and won't fit. My usual way forward is to use hot water pipe insulation and duct tape to pad bars to carry kayaks but was wondering if anybody had any other ideas as the tape usually tears after a while and looks a bit daggy?..
