Skin-on-Frame: Nikumi cross section numbers & spacing

Here are a couple of questions for all the builders of Tom Yost's Nikumi:
1)I have cross sections (forms, whatever...) lofted from what I guess was an older set of offsets, because I have only 7 forms where Tom's newer offsets seem to have 8 and the form spacing he gives shows 8 as well. Am I missing one, or is the 8th form what would be considered "cross section 0" just behind the bifid bow plate?
2)If I want to expend the cockpit a bit, do I just move the cockpit forms forward & back respectively, or simply move the front one only?
Slightly Confused,
Rich
