Advantage of the external strongback is when you build the next boat (yes you will) you can use the same one you've already built. Unless you're really lucky, the internal strongback won't fit the new boat. As long as the strongback is long enough, or adjustable like Rob Macks, it can be made to work on alot of different designs.
