yah, neat idea maybe could make a good sealing velcroed opener too.
i remember writing about this stuff (super stretchy neoprene) here when i first came across it in a dive shop. They were using it for expensive full on 'drysuits' made out of 5-8 mm stretchy neoprene that were easy to put on and really easy to walk around in. a revolution.

At the time i had a pair of ordinary farmer johns that kept just ripping at the crotch - which i replaced with a diamond shaped pc of the stretchy - and has not been repaired since. the pc of 5mm( 1/4") that i bought was 200% more stretchy than the ordinary neo - amazing stuff

now it is common to get wetsuits that are made 100% of this stuff.

the only thing to keep in mind is to make sure it IS the stretchy stuff, heh heh.

i just bought a one pc stretchy after trying out a few others. there does seem to be a variance in the amount of stretchy of the stretchies, unfortunately.

(one of the ideas i had was to buy some real thin stuff (like this 1mm mentioned) and make little shoulder cuffs and a neck on my farmer john - so that it became much more safe in dunking situations (no/reduced water ingress thru those areas), and yet still have the full flexibility required for paddling.
