well litres/100km its more something in Italy we use to make supereasy to understand how far can you go with your tank, i find now people that use it for consumption and that isnt that handy too, for that its just "so many km per 1 liter".
Here gallons are a mess i never know if its english gallons or american gallons, dividing by 12 first, then going in base 8 doesnt make any sense to me. And when i cook i still go nuts if i follow a recipe (cakes only, go by eye for other stuff) thanks to cups, tablespoons and teaspoons, ounces etc. if i hear talking about stones i just give up.
Its even weirder because i come from jewellery so im used to think about ounces that arent the same ounces you guys use and keep getting confused.
If your problem its for seeing then you should choose a better tape measure, there are some that mark differently centimeters, half centimeters and millimeters, so its very easy to see. And you cant tellme that its easier to see a 1/32 than a mm.... or maybe you can....what can you do habits are habits....
: I still prefer to understand fuel mileage as "mpg" instead of
: "litres per 100 kms". I still prefer pounds over kilograms. I
: still like using gallons instead of litres. Those danged millimeters look
: so small when measuring out the length of a baseplate or stud, inches are
: fewer and easier to see on the old tape measure. All that I still prefer
: despite learning metric wayyyyy back in the 70's. I know measuring in
: tenths is more logical than in ounces/pounds/tons but hey, who says I have
: to be logical. Things were so much better in the old days (my Anglican
: (Episcopalian) roots showing.
