Hi Tim
I asked similar question at the start of the year as the Guillemot I built and have been paddling for two years isn't the answer for offshore sea trips. Rob Macks North Star Baidarka appealed to me after lots of suggestions on this board. Am still in the build process but I think it's going to be a serious piece of kit. It's a bit longer than what you specified though.

Trying to find a kayak that is about 17 feet long , 21 to 22 inches wide and
: that will surf well and handle 2 to 3 meters of sea on a 3 or 4 meter
