S&G needs the flexibility of being able to loosen the stitches, tighten them up again until the alignment is right. So using nails for S&G is a bad idea. It is different with strippers where the shape is defined by many stations. For S&G it is defined by the panels shapes and tensile strength - so you really need the flexibility provided by stitching, not nailing.
