Hi,

Just as a follow up to Bill's post, as I used this "slit" technique for my inserts.

I used 19x1.5mm tube for the main stringers and got a load of 5/8" tube for the inserts hoping this would give enough clearance, however, it did not. Therefore, rather than paying for someone to turn the inserts down with a lathe, I used the "slit" technique. It works fine with a standard hacksaw in a vice so long as you are careful not to "over squeeze" the tubes. However, as I was aiming for 8 section stringers this did represent quite a lot of extra work cutting and squeezing inserts.

All done now, just got to finish my house before I can get onto skinning!
