About the 4 panel S&Gs, yes they have larger flat areas but because of their shape they also have a rigid frame that the panels are hung into. This frame is formed by the angular structure and the fillets, the combination of which makes it strong and stiff. The fewer panels, the stronger this frame is. This is an essential feature of S&G that strip boats lack. The plywood itself forms a sandwich that distributes impact across a larger area unlike strippers.
Strip boats need curvature in order to be strong. When it comes to flat sections there is no doubt in my mind that S&G will be much stronger.
