: My hips and two fists equal 19 inches. 5'8" 140lbs My existing boat is
: 16 ft long and I like tracking vs turning of that length. I do not want to
: learn how to roll, so I'm looking for a boat that prefers to stay upright.
: It seems that my choices are the Rider, the Ranger and the sea otter R. Is
: there any others I'm missing? What is the difference between the ranger
: and rider in regards to how they paddle? Are both very capable of not
: tipping? How does the Otter compare? I'm looking for increased performance
: over my 23.5 greenland yak, but still have good tracking and stability. As
: mentioned early, rolling is not my thing.
: So basically, which boat is the best design for me.
: Thanks,
: scott
Most of Tom Yost's boats are I think designed for easy rolling. If you don't want to roll (or swim) I'd be looking for a design nearer to 22" wide than 19". There is a limit to how stable a 19" wide boat can be
