Everyone is right. Bead and Cove is easy to do, and so is beveling the strips. I use both based on the boat's needs.

Example: the Iggy is a hard chined kayak. The strips hit each other perfectly without the need to bead and cove or bevel. I use less strips, less wood, and I didn't have to waste time bead and coving. The Siskiwit LV has complex curves near the stems that would require some unique beveling that would take longer than a bead and cove set-up, so I bead and cove.

There are places for everything.
