: I ended up using less than half the tube. For the first coat, I added a very
: small amount of the yellow to a plastic yoghurt container and added a
: little varnish and mixed it 'really' well. Then added more varnish to this
: 'paste-like' mixture, using about a pint for the first coat. The first
: coat was pretty blotchy, but I was advised that this was ok, and that
: successive coats would even out. And they did. The final two coats were
: more heavily tinted. I honestly sort of lost track but I think there are 7
: coats on the hull, and 6 on the deck. It seems 'good enough'. I used cheap
: foam brushes from the $1 store (maybe 10 per pack) so no cleaning.

Thanks, great info, getting ready to do a similiar tinted varnish job on my Tom Yost Sea Ranger and that was the one thing no one ever seemed to mention, how much artists oil paint to add
