Thanks ken. The hassle of Using S glass will be nothing compared to the hassle of building the thing in the first place . Money wise a carbon kevlar IMPEX or Nadgee sea kayak out here is about $4500 . How much is a strip kayak going to cost?? I won't be doing it only to save money. All the damage to my kayak has been done around the back yard or in transport as you say except for some fore deck stress cracks in the gel coat from the surf. I have since read that on single layers of fabric vacuum bagging is not worth the trouble. I have a bit of experience in Skateboard building with foam cores and carbon glass and wood sandwich ans with that vacuum bagging pulls it all together and gets the weight of the resin out.
