Stripper weight.

The other posters pretty much covered it. Just remember - regarding no. 7 that liquids (epoxy) is heavy, glass cloth is heavy and the lighest building ingredient you will use is the cedar (or balsa). So, any building up of glass structures like coamings is going to weigh more than building with cedar. Glass bulkheads will just add extra weight. I'd use okume coated with epoxy if weight is the ultimate goal.

Are you a first time kayaker? - because many people new to the sport never consider that in kayaking you will start carrying more and more safety stuff the more experienced you become, like radios, back up clothing, water, food and more. If your goal is racing then go with thin strips and a super light weight lay up and never hit rocks. I never regreted the 5 or 5 extra lbs I carry when I play around in rough water near rocks.
