If you really prefer a kayak, I don't think that trying to convince yourself that a canoe is a better choice is worth the effort. You won't enjoy it as much and you won't paddle as much. Get kayaks that will meet your needs and enjoy them.

Does that ever make sense or what?? It convinced me to stick with the kayak. I built a DK-13 years ago and loved that boat. But it was so small I simple couldn't move about in it and it was uncomfortable. But I still enjoyed it.

My niece is 17 almost 18 and a Girl Scout canoe instructor. Loves the outdoors and she may prefer a canoe. But she wants to try kayaking too. I think I am just going to build two kayaks and go from there. I wouldn't mind a small double paddle canoe, but my interest really is in a Kayak.
