: Are there any other GP layouts that people have out there?

Every one I've done gets it's own set of lines. I've never caved one as drawn by someone else. I looked at the various sizings and ratios and adapted the methods to get unique lines for every one. After the first, you know what lines do what and how to adjust to get all manner of variations.

In addition to shouldered and shoulderless GPs, I have carved an Aleut (an amalgam of shapes/ideas from "plans" and pictures, adapted to my size/needs), two other experimental paddle types I have yet to name or classify, and a single blade (vaguely King Islandish).

Making some of these I've gone as far as to do 3D models, 2D drawings with dimensions I could convert to carving lines, etc. After carving a couple though, I can just take what I have in mind and mark out the wood as I go with no prior plan on paper. GPs are pretty straight forward. Some of the others also required some adapting and deviating from the "plan" along the way. Feel in hand, and water, determines final shape.
