no, these early ones weren’t deserving of being built - they were necessary thinking steps along the way - but the rc model ht shrink fabric (it is not plastic film) is great.
After the next model, I was able to balance some of my concerns better and then proceeded from there.
the physical models I build are all ¼ scale and are used only as aids in the panel, frame or shape design process. As you can see even on that model, I drew all over it to put down various ideas. Subsequent skin models were sprayed w/ white paint and then watersoluble pens or pencil (ordinary eraser erases) were used to draw – so that a damp cloth could erase and start over. S&g models use styrene plastic for the panels (extremely quick cutting - score and snap) – waterbased pens or pencil work fine also.
Floating, etc is fairly pointless (for me) as hydrostatics are much better modelled and more quickly modified in software.
anyway, if you plan on reskinning several times (as you say), the rc fabric is the way to go as it is so quick.
