Mike I have had others say they would use two leeboards and in doing that one could keep them shorter because the maximum leeboard length would always be under water on a starboard or port tack, but a single leeboard would have maximum depth only when tacking on the side of the leeboard and less leeboard in the water when on the opposite tack. By making the single leeboard longer would help compensate I think. But my leeboard looks really long.
