: It's a 10" sip bench saw, table saw to you guys on the other side of the
: atlantic.

Sorry I missed looking at your e-mail address before. I probably wasted your time telling you about hardware stores in the USA. Back on your side of the pomd, Rutlands (has Freud thin kerf saw blades with 30mm arbor holes. Here is a URL to one such product, a 180mm (roughly 7 inch) thin kerf (2.4mm) http://www.rutlands.co.uk/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi/LP30M===011

They want £18.95 for it. I'm not sure how that would compare with the price of similar items from other dealers, and I have no idea how close you might be to them--but at least you don;t have to paddle accross the Atlantic to get a blade. Rutlands Limited, Deepdale Business Park, Ashford Road, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1GT. Order by phone 01629 815 518

Since the hole in the blade is larger than your 1" arbor, you can get a bushing which fits inside the 30mm hole and centers that on a 1" arbor. These look like washers, but they are precisely made and cost a lot more than a common washer. They do a fine job of mounting the blade, and do it securely. Bushings don't usually wear out. You can reuse the same bushing with many blades over many years.

: The drilling out of the arbor is a very precise job, so i'm not considering
: doing it myself.

Some machine shops love these little jobs because they break up the monotony, and others love them because they can charge you an exhorbitant amount for the work. :) Try to find the former, and avoid the latter.

Either way, if you can find a blade you want to use, but it doesn't have the right size arbor hole, you can change things.

When you are building a boat, where everything has compound angles, and strange shapes, you have to expect that you'll need to use some tools which are less than common. Welcome to the club where you have to modify some existing tool to make it serve your purpose.

Good luck with your shopping.
