I have to agree with all who posted. Sell the wood and get some cedar. I was lucky enough to spend some time in the Amazon in eastern Peru sevaral years ago. I saw some boards about the size of the ones you have. These were used as the boards for the dock. Also paddled sevaral dugout canoes made of Mahogany. Holy rollers were they heavy. Went out in one about every day, and they were a bear to move fast cause they must have weighed well over 100 pounds. Also the natives got a real kick out of watching me paddle, since I sat in the back and paddled. Down there all of them sit in the front. We were out in the bush so far that I think they had to pump oxygen into the area. As I said there was a lot to learn out there. I would come back from my morning paddle and the indians would hang around and try to control the boat from the back like I did, and they were alomos as bad as I was trying to control from the front. One day I came in from the morning paddle pretty full of myself, the great explorer and all. I was deflated by a 10 year old kid who had been out for over 2 hours collecting fish to sell. He was in his own canoe, and could handle it as if he was using the force instead of a paddle. One side of the canoe was broken off, but he just leaned he other way so it wouldn't leak. He was selling the fish that hea had caught overnite.
Anyway, sorry to ramble, but there were some HUGE tress down there and some huge logs and slabs cut from them, but there was no way to get them out. No road, and the canoes couldn't carry it, and there was no other way to get things out. Huge logs, 6foot and better diameter, some had been cut, but no way to get them out. If i were you I'd take the advise of those who have responded prviously, and sell the slambs and invest the money. JR
