Hi Eric, and Mike,
That's a bit like the Topper self bailers, you can close them off when needed. Which is whenever the dinghy isn't moving, or going slowly.
Not sure if the topper ones would work in a kayak, they do need some speed to work, 3 knots plus, and they're about 10cm x 8cm area.
