Greenland paddles can be less stressful to the shoulders, elbows and hands because they get their bite throughout the stroke, instead of all at the initial entry and also because your hand placement is closer together which limits the amount of movement your shoulders do. The greenland paddle has a different feeling when being used that uses different techniques. It took me a while to get use to the different feel that a greenland paddle has but some people instantly like them. It's worth your time to give it a try and see if works for you.
