Stripping over a cockpit is problematic, especially when there's a large difference in deck heights. Small cockpits make it even worse. On a Greenland boat like the Black Pearl you have both. Bjorn told me a neat trick: cut out a template of the cockpit out of plywood, MFD or particleboard. Make it at least 1" smaller all around to allow for trimming, and mount it on the forms. You now can strip right up to the edge of the cockpit form. I even hot-glue/stapled my strips to the form to hold the ends. Works great. It took all the guesswork out of stripping around the cockpit.

For some reason I never took a picture of the stripped deck around the cockpit...
