Do not import cross sections, import the keel the chines and the sheer, if you check the manual it would talk about waterlines, works the same way. Eventually if you make a mistake and those chines etc are represented as sections just rotate the model.
(All the "restrictions" for importing the lines that define a surface are for the hydrostatics not the representation so you can do whatever you want at the end, just rotate move or scale the model in the right position when you calculate. For that importing as surface its something that works way better than importing offsets in Delftship, even creating the file is easier)
Once your import creates the "longitudinal" markers Freeship will try to interpolate them with a smooth surface, the fact is that importing the chines you will have a row of control points that represent exactly the chine. To eliminate the smooth curve at the chine simply select the grid line in between the relative controlpoints and set that as chine, in the manual defined as "crease", that will create the corner you need and the hull surface will be straight not having other controlpoints in between that and the sheer or keel.
Lets say you have one chine, you'll be importing then 3 lines: keel, chine, sheer. If your offsets call for 15 stations then your line will have 15 coordinates (not counting ends) so you will find represented a control point grid of 15 columns of 3 controlpoints each, one on the sheer one on the chine and one on the keel. There shouldnt be the need for corrections of the chines but if that would happen its minimal, just select the controlpoint grid lines relative to the chine, "edge" menu ad set it as crease, curve menu and click on "new" that will create a line directly related to that row of controlpoints, and since that row is defined as crease then that line is the chine, and that will be what you will use as reference when you move the controlpoints, when that line matches the imported chine marker your surface its exactly what the offsets intended.
I just imported a dory that way and i didnt need any correction.
