Scrap it is probably the best idea.

I have restored a lot of old woodworking machines. I prefer old machines to most anything made to today. And while I have not seen your saw, typically the small ones are just not very well built machines. So I am not surprised that you feel a jigsaw was a better choice. A good jigsaw may very well be an big improvement!

Everyone is different for course. But I would never want to be without a bandsaw. The one new machine is my shop is a Grizzly 14" bandsaw. I am not a fan of imports but this affordable at the time and it is a good saw. So far anyway. However it will be replaced as soon as I finish the restoration of the 1915 +/- 30" bandsaw I am restoring.

All this to say you might want to watch the classifieds for an older Delta 14" bandsaw. The older ones are coveted my those in the know but there are some good deals out there. And the design has remained essentially the same over the years so there easy to repair if it needed some TLC. There would be world of difference in one of these and your 10" saw. I bet a good one would change you mind about the jigsaw. Again everyone is different the jig saw might just suit you fine!
