Oh yeah one more thing (brain isn't real fast at 3am ) after considerable time talking to CLC about this boat in person (at Canoecopia last year) they recommend a rudder of some sort instead of the skeg. They don't offer it that way because of the complexity, but a very long boat like this turns far better with a rudder, and I hate rudders :)

I'd do a thru the bottom one like the surfski's use if I built one, lots less chance of ventilation and you can use a much smaller blade.
