I've got a fast touring boat, actually two. The Pax20 for me would be an exercise boat. I'd be tempted to build it with a surfski cockpit too, then you don't have to play with a big floppy nylon skirt.
At my age and fitness level I'm not racing anyone unless someone comes up with slow races . It's just easier to get a full bod workout with a race style boat with a big cockpit that allows correct leg movement that's a bit hard to do with my tiny greenland cockpits on the other boats.
