: When it comes to a more substantial boat, though, foam has very distinct
: advantages over wood, be it structural, lighter weight, or in its
: impervious nature towards water invasion and subsequent rot.

: It will make for a fun project, though, as a kayak. It will also put you in
: the same company as the guys who build Olympic hulls for flatwater
: paddling events, even though they are cooking their hulls in female molds
: in an autoclave with prepreg carbon laminates and honeycomb Nomex instead
: of foam cores.

: There's all kinds of information available as to layup schedules for the
: laminates used on boats like these. I say do it and have a blast. Forget
: about the naysayers and enjoy building your boat the way you want.
