: Your mention of the dolphin chased mackerel jumping onto your deck reminded
: of an experience I had when I was sneaking around on dark in my recovery
: (training run) one evening. A fairly large garfish was spooked out of the
: water and almost landed in my lap. I got such a surprise that I did
: nothing for too long and the fish managed to wriggle off my deck and back
: into the water. [yet another one of those 'fish got away' stories ]
: Next time it would be nothing to scoop the next victim into the fold of my
: Tuitsoq.
: I don't know if that would be passive or active fishing
: But maybe an advantage of night paddling
: Mind you the next level: getting smacked on the side of the head with a wet
: fish wouldn't be alot of fun.
: Happy festive season and be careful out there.
: Cheers Pete
Hi Pete,
I think I got the 'next level thing' backwards, I'd been already hit by a flying fish "upside the head". The gunnery helmet was so handy but it still staggered me.
Not the best thing when you're carrying loaded ammo drums.
Not much eating on a flying fish either.
By the way, a fish that jumps into your lap WANTS to be eaten. Definitely passive fishing.
Have a happy Christmas down there,
Mike Savage
