Good grief designing and building a kayak is no rocket science, to screw it up you have to be total dope. Besides if it's my kayak I take the risk. And the costs? I think what I start tomorrow is about $300.- maybe $350.- if I add in the costs of some old epoxy from years ago that I want finish. I gave my first kayak away when I was done with it. You think I should look for a lawyer?
