Thanks Bill. Reading everyones comments has been most educational. I have picked up a lot of golden tidbits. While I am not experienced at hull design I have always had a high mechanical aptitude and pick up things fast. Studying the hull I see where I would have very little initial stability after I round it off so much. I didn't take into account some of the factors that were in my old boat. The lack of initial stability is totally contrary to what I was wanting. So I have a new version with a more conventional flatter bottom to it that should be much more stable.

For now, I have decided to go with a plywood hull and strip deck. There are several reasons for this choice, but the main one being speed of construction. I am going to be building two boats at one time. As I have mentioned one is for my Niece and she wants to heavily involved in the building of her boat. Being in school and working she doesn't have a lot of spare time. So it just makes sense to build S&G since it will be quicker. We can do a strip deck on the boats for looks.

Also, I build furniture and I have several requests right now. Since boat building takes time away that, it is another reason I have decided to go S&G. But I am by no means giving up on this boat!! I am going to continue to refine the design and will just start building it latter on. Once I get these first two on the water then I can start on this one and work on it between other jobs. I like having two projects going on. You can work on while while waiting on something on the other.

I have several things to do this morning, but once I get back I will post the updated Kayak Foundry file of the boat for everyones inspection.

I designed the S&G version in Hulls and imported it into Free!Ship. I sure wish Kayak Foundry had the stability calculations. Or there was a way to export the files into them. Of course there are things I wish the others did as good as Kayak Foundry does too!
