Good choice on the suit. I have a GFER & love it. The relief zip & socks are great. You build kayaks- trimming a neck seal is nothing. Use sharp scissors, make a smooth cut, and take off a little at a time. Most seals have small ridges around them to make trimming easier. Once you get it tolerable, wear it for a while. Paddling, watching TV, whatever. (You don't have to wear the whole suit, just stick your head through the zipper & neck seal.) It may need to be trimmed a bit more, but take it SLOW. So far, I've never buggered one up but neck seals are about $30 & not hard to install.

If you are REALLY terrified, buy a spare seal (make sure it's identical to OEM), and trim the spare to fit. Once you are happy with the fit, go ahead & trim the seal on the suit. Again, trim it a little tight, wear it, & trim again if needed.

I usually wear midweight & expedition weight undies, both top & bottom. I was out practicing rolls & nonsense today & stayed toasty warm while icy bits floated around me. A onezie would be better.

A drysuit is the only way to go!
